A makeup vanity is only as good as its lighting. In order to apply makeup in the proper fashion, you have to clearly see what you’re doing. If the vanity is situated next to a window, the light from outdoors may be bright enough for you. However, if it is not near near a window, or during the night time hours, having a proper vanity light is a must.

There are many vanities that have lighting attached to the mirror or to its frame, so although you can’t change the lighting itself, you can place bright light bulbs inside the fixture. If your vanity doesn’t come with lighting, you can easily attach the lighting yourself, and choose the kind that fits your needs. You can select lighting that surrounds the mirror, which will make you appear enveloped by the light, or track lighting placed just above the mirror. The light bulbs should be bright yet soft, giving off a natural tone of light.

When purchasing your vanity table, be sure to notice the lighting options that it offers. When a bulb burn out, it’s best to change it right away, even if there are other bulbs that are burning brightly, as each light makes a difference.

Having the right lighting will allow you to enjoy the full benefits of having a vanity table. Instead of being greeted by glaring light that shows off every flaw you’d like to hide, or conversely, not being able to see those flaws well enough to hide them, you will be able to have just enough light to put on your makeup in a calm, relaxed manner.
